Camp Across Virginia

WELCOME to Camp Across Virginia, a web site created by outdoor enthusiasts for outdoor enthusiasts!   The frequent camper and the novice will find that the information contained in this site is both practical and informative.  Our goal is to provide you with concise information about State, Federal, Corps of Engineer and Regional/Municipal camping areas in the Old Dominion.   There are three significant factors that enhance the camping experience in Virginia:  location, history and quality of the camping areas.

Location – The geography of Virginia runs from the Appalachian Mountains to the James and Shenandoah Rivers to the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean.  There are exciting camping destinations in all of these regions!

History - Intertwined with unique geography of each region of Virginia are some of the most pivotal historical locations in America.  You can literally camp on the same shores as the first settlers to land in the New Colonies, or within minutes of Jamestown, Williamsburg or Yorktown. For example, a trip to Pocahontas or Lake Anna State Parks will put you in the shadow of many Civil War battlefields and the historic Virginia capital of Richmond.

Quality - While the VA legislature continues to show unwavering support for the park system through funding initiatives, the quality of the parks themselves is a direct reflection of the people that operate them.  The cleanliness and integrity of park areas are unparalleled.  The park rangers and staff provide excellent security and guidance and the educational programs are perfect for visitors of all ages.
